Patricia Ackor, Artist Vigilance  This mostly-pastel drawing was done on white paper, not black. Some people have found the image too intense, but I offer no apology. Even though this subspecies of mountain lion (Florida panther) has been driven very nearly to extinction, I saw no open hostility in this magnificent animal's eyes. I have tried to convey what I did see: intelligence, wariness, and a certain amount of suspicion, but no threat. Simply vigilance.
