But try to time your visit to coincide with at least one sunrise and/or sunset; the colors at those times are much more intense and awesome. This view is from part way down the Hermit's Rest Trail at the West end of the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. In painting, photography, and probably many other disciplines, sunset is known as "magic hour," and Native Americans called this vast canyon "the house of stone and light."
