Patricia Ackor, Artist The Glittering Caves of Aglarond  During the siege of Helm's Deep, women, children, the elderly and injured sought refuge in these caves. Later, Gimli persuaded Legolas to tour them with him. Tolkien's description of the enchanting vistas is one of the most lyrical in the entire trilogy, in my opinion.
